Wholesale Ecommerce | Valley Forge Flag Company | www.valleyforgeflag.com
Opportunity & Challenge
In 2008, after more than a year of working with a web development firm to create a wholesale ecommerce site, Valley Forge Flag had a basic website with nothing but product information and a list of retailers that carried their line. The project crept along, never reaching a functional level due to the complexity of the business rules associate with Valley Forge’s pricing.
The primary challenge was that Valley Forge has multiple price points for wholesale products based on total account volume. Additionally, certain products were only available to government agencies, requiring secure access and limited visibility to non-government customers. The site also needed improved search engine visibility, a refined online presence, and a better design to reflect the nature of the brand.
After a year of unsuccessful efforts from another firm, Valley Forge enlisted the help of Speartek to get the project back on track. Read on to see how Speartek’s innovative solutions got Valley Forge up and running.
Strategy
Speartek’s first goal was to build a site that could accommodate the multiple pricing levels and product visibility rules while still being easy to use for the client. Valley Forge also needed a new online identity consistent with their existing printed collateral and marketing style. Finally, Valley Forge needed a long-term solution for integrating sales into their client accounting system, JD Edwards.
Solution
By leveraging the ecommerce manager and content management system of the Speartek platform to meet Valley Forge’s requirement, Speartek was able to quickly turnaround a new site. Valley Forge’s complex business rules and requirements were written into the system to give the end user a seamless experience from order to delivery. Speartek’s designers and developers worked with Valley Forge’s existing marketing materials to create a functional and visually attractive new site that reflects Valley Forge’s commitment to quality and customer service. The new site launched in 2009 to a warm reception by Valley Forge Flags and their clients.
Continued Success
Almost immediately, website traffic, time spent on the site, and sales volume climbed steadily. In the first six months, the site accumulated 400 orders accounting for over $130,000 in new revenue. Prior to the Speartek launch, Valley Forge had no online ordering activity or revenue.
Client
Kristen Breininger, Valley Forge’s liaison to Speartek reports that the project was a success, and her experience with Speartek was positive in all regards.
